Locke announces campaign for Sandy Springs City Council District 2

Lauren Locke stated she was running for the District seat on the Sandy Springs City Council Provided by Lauren Locke Lauren Locke revealed her campaign for the District Sandy Springs City Council seat Her reasons for seeking the council seat include a desire to help reclaim revitalize and reimagine what s accomplishable in the north end of the city Locke wants to incorporate natural assets such as the river and the surrounding landscape into the city s future development She plans to work to bring new businesses to the region and to work closely with law enforcement and firefighters to reduce crime and improve residents safety Locke is seeking the seat now held by Melody Kelley who has not formally declared she will run for reelection Locke the chief operating officer of Cornerstone Advisors Group a wealth management group is also a licensed sports medicine personal trainer A -year Sandy Springs resident she formerly owned a yoga and barre studio in Sandy Springs and still occasionally teaches hot barre classes Locke was born on Fort Sam Houston military base in Texas and comes from a long line of military members She is a supporter of advancing and retired military personnel Locke grew up in Peachtree Corners Circle and graduated from Norcross High School She graduated from Georgia State University where she majored in journalism with a minor in psychology Locke was a member of AOII fraternity and now serves as an advisor In her neighborhood she chairs the sidewalk committee and has served as treasurer of the HOA Locke mentioned she also led an effort to bury power lines in her district Locke helpers at the recycling center and with her kids organizations Young Men s Amenity League YMSL and National Charities League NCL Her years of dance experience helped Locke land a spot in the Olympics ceremonies and at the Super Bowl XXXIII halftime show in Locke belongs to the Greater Perimeter Chamber and assistants at organizations including the Society Assistance Center and the Chattahoochee Nature Center Her two children attended Queen of Angels and now Lucky Trinity Catholic High School where they play football and volleyball and grew up playing and riding bikes at Morgan Falls Park Riverside Park and Azalea Park Locke s family also sponsors two children in Tanzania through the Ubora Foundation according to her announcement Contact Locke via email at laurenallgoodlocke gmail com The official qualification period will be Mon Aug through Thursday Aug from a m to p m and Friday Aug from a m to noon at Sandy Springs City Hall For information about the city s municipal polling visit Rough Draft Atlanta s Sandy Springs Ballot Guide The post Locke announces campaign for Sandy Springs City Council District appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
